Street level (also known as thoroughfare level) data is now available as standard on our web service. It offers access to the Royal Mail PAF database at half the price of the full premise level data.
How is street level data different to premise level? Premise level data contains all available information about all delivery points in a postcode. It can include information such as company name, house name or number, street name, locality, town name and county. Street level data, as the name suggests, is a subset of the premise level data and contains only the street name, locality, town and county.
For most rapid addressing appliations premise level data is the best choice as it provides the fastest route from a postcode to a full address. Street level data may be appropriate in some applications, however. To get a full address additional information (house name/number etc) will have to be captured from the user making the data entry require more keystrokes. This may be an acceptable compromise in cases where the price of the data is very important.
Street level data is priced at half the price of our existing premise level data. Every request to the web service consumes only half a credit :
| Type of Data | Credits Used | Price per click (min/max) |
| Street Level Data | 0.5 | 0.625p / 1.5p |
| Premise Level Data | 1 | 1.25p / 3p |
Prices shown as at 2 December 2009. Please see our prices page for up to date pricing.
Street level data is currently only available via the XML API.
